  • September 2007: Embraer announces two new jet concepts under study for the mid-light jet (MLJ) and mid-size jet (MSJ) executive markets at the 60th Annual National Business Aviation Association convention.
  • April 2008: Embraer Executive Jets unveils the name of its two new executive jets. The Legacy 450 officially replaced MLJ as the name for the company’s new mid-light entry, while the Legacy 500 replaced MSJ as the name of its mid-size entry.

  • The Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 are designed to establish a new paradigm in their respective, executive jet categories by offering extraordinary performance, fly-by-wire technology, and low operating costs.
  • July 2008: Joint Definition Phase begins for Legacy 500.
  • May 2009: Honeywell Ovation®Select™ Cabin Connection Suite selected for Legacy 450 and Legacy 500.
  • Embraer completes product definition for Legacy 450 and Legacy 500.
  • February 2010: FlightSafety International and Embraer partner to provide training for Legacy 500 and Legacy 450.
  • April 2010: First metal cut for Legacy 500.
  • December 2011: Legacy 500 rolled out.
  • February 2012:  Embraer Executive Jets performed the Legacy 500 first engine run on January 17, at the Company’s headquarters in São José dos Campos, Brazil.
  • March 2012: Joint Definition Phase for Legacy 450 begins
