São José dos Campos, February 24, 2011 – Embraer’s Legacy 650 large executive jet has just received certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In October 2010, Brazil’s ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) had already granted their certifications.

The Legacy 650 is an extended-range derivative of the successful Legacy 600 jet, which has logged nearly 200 deliveries worldwide. The new jet has achieved all of its performance targets, particularly the maximum range of 3,900 nautical miles (7,223 kilometers) – with four passengers and NBAA IFR reserves included, without compromising either payload capacity or operational costs. Embraer’s large jet model associates an elegant and spacious cabin with enough range to fly nonstop on such important routes as London (U.K.) to New York (U.S.); New York to Rome (Italy) or Munich (Germany); Chicago or Atlanta (U.S.) to London, Dubai (United Arab Emirates – UAE) to London; São Paulo (Brazil) to Miami (U.S.); and Singapore to Sydney (Australia).

The Legacy 650 offers the same comfortable and functional three cabin zones interior of the Legacy 600, as well as the largest in-flight accessible baggage compartment of its class. Both jets also incorporate state-of-the-art insulation materials for improved noise levels and Inmarsat’s SwiftBroadband system for high-speed in-flight Internet connections, as well as Honeywell’s new Primus EliteTM avionics suite.

The Legacy 650 and the Legacy 600 shares important qualities with the best-selling ERJ 145 regional jet platform, including low fuel consumption, reduced operating costs, ease of maintenance and outstanding dispatch reliability. These modern executive jets are not only less expensive to operate than aircraft with similar cabin sizes, but actually cost the same as aircraft with only two cabin zones. Deliveries of the Legacy 650 began in November 2010, with seven already in operation.

About the Legacy 650

The large Legacy 650 entered in operation in 2010. Based on the successful Legacy 600 platform, it provides longer trips for up to 14 passengers, while maintaining the same level of comfort. Its range of 3,900 nautical miles (7,223 kilometers) with four passengers, or 3,840 nautical miles (7,112 kilometers) with eight passengers, both with NBAA IFR fuel reserves, means that the aircraft can fly nonstop from London to New York; Dubai to London or Singapore; Miami to São Paulo (Brazil); Singapore to Sydney (Australia); or Mumbai to Central Europe. The Legacy 600 and Legacy 650 feature advanced navigation capabilities and the Primus Elite™ avionics suite, which incorporates an upgraded graphical user interface, enabling smarter and faster decisions, while reducing pilot workload.
